About the network

Women in Hardware was established in August 2017 when cofounders Julie Murphy (Murphy’s Mitre 10) and Gloria Jacob’s (Hedland Home Timber & Hardware) had a vision of forming “a support group for all the women in hardware”.

The initiative then evolved from a group of members who worked to support the pathway of women within our industry.  The group has a focus on providing a forum for females to share ideas, experiences and resources with one-another. Women in Hardware Australia hopes to become the leading women’s initiative within the industry and is supported by the peak industry association Hardware Australia.

Women in Hardware has run several successful events across the country connecting women in the industry, and empowering them to succeed in what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry.

Women in Hardware is run by a national committee of volunteers who aim to implement programs, initiative and events to support women in the hardware industry.

OUR VISION IS SIMPLE
To mentor, support and assist women within the independent hardware industry to succeed and excel in their various roles, and create opportunities and pathways into leadership positions.
