EV Fleet Funding Opens for Small Businesses Ready to Cut Costs

Thursday 30, Apr 2026

Small business owners operating vehicle fleets now have a clear opportunity to reduce running costs and modernise their operations, with a new round of EV fleet funding now open.

The Electric Vehicle (EV) Fleets Incentive, delivered by the NSW Government, is targeting businesses ready to take the first step toward switching from petrol or diesel vehicles to battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The current ‘kick-start’ round is open until May 29 2026.

For small businesses, the focus is on making the transition achievable. The kick-start funding stream supports the purchase of up to 15 electric vehicles, along with smart charging infrastructure—making it suitable for businesses running delivery vehicles, service fleets or company cars.

Eligibility is not limited to large operators. Businesses with as few as three vehicles in NSW can apply, provided those vehicles have been in operation for at least six months. Applicants must also commit to maintaining a fleet of at least three vehicles for the next three to four years.

While funding amounts have not been specified, the program is designed to offset the upfront cost of switching to EVs—often cited as the biggest barrier for smaller operators.
